How to vote in person on Election Day


Step 1: Register to vote or check your current registration

In Minnesota you can register to vote ahead of time or you can register on Election Day at your polling place. Check your registration and make sure you’re ready to go.

On Election Day:
Polling locations in Minneapolis are open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm

What should I bring?
If you’re already registered to vote at your current residence, or it’s been at least 21 days since you registered to vote, you don’t need to bring any identification.

If you haven’t registered to vote or need to update your voter registration, you can do that on Election Day, you’ll just need to show a Proof of Residence. Some ID’s can be used as Proof of Residence, but there are other options as well.

When can I vote early?

Starting Friday, September 19th, you can vote during the following times at the Elections & Voter Services Center.

Monday - Friday, Oct 20 – Oct 24 : 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

Saturday and Sunday, Oct 25 and 26 : 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Monday - Friday, Oct 27 – Oct 31 : 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

Saturday and Sunday, Nov 1 and 2 : 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Monday, November 3 : 7:00 am - 5:00 pm (This is the day before Election Day)

Can I vote early?

Any registered voter in the city of Minneapolis can vote early. If you’re already registered, you don’t need to bring any identification. If you haven’t registered yet, you can register at the Elections & Voter Services Center. Just make sure you have your Proof of Residence documents with you.
